Mazda Reveals Its First Off-Road SUV CX-50 With Interesting Features Including Hybrid Powertrain

Mazda Motor Corporation has finally entered into SUV market with the launch of the CX-50. The Japanese multinational automaker has already made public its intention to launch a whole expanded line-up of fresh SUVs. And the first on the list is the 2023 Mazda CX-50. While it will be a slot above the CX-30, the size will be similar to the CX-5. The SUV will come with a number of interesting features like the upcoming hybrid powertrain. It will have broader fenders and the grille will sport a bolder bezel. For the hood, there will be sporty matte black decals. Mazda highlighted that the SUV will have wider doors in order to make stepping on the sills easier.

When it comes to the interior, there will be similarities with other Mazdas. It will have minimal dash with the main focus on the instrument panel and largely hidden air vents. In the interior, customers will get new color called Terracotta. However, Mazda has not shared any information related to various details of the CX-50. The base engine of the SUV will be a 2.-liter four-cylinder. The company will also give a turbocharged version as an option. They will both come paired with six-speed automatic transmission. It must be noted that the vehicle manufacturer is looking for a more ‘active lifestyle’ sort of vehicle.

Rather than just Normal and Sport modes, the CX-50 will be available in multiple drive modes. In order to keep things easy, Mazda will be launching only one off-road mode. Mazda engineer Dave Coleman said that the company has made some interesting changes. Among the most prominent is making the G-Vectoring system more aggressive. This system shifts weight onto front wheels by cutting torque. It also plays an important role in engaging all-wheel drive. This in turn helps keep wheels turning at the same rate o stability. There are some other interesting features. For example, the CX-50 is going to be the first vehicle of the company that will have a panoramic sunroof. The vehicle, to be first produced in Alabam, will go on sale next spring.
