Facebook Patent Announces Juicy Updates on the Upcoming Meta Smartwatch. Find out More

The Meta smartwatch has been in development for some time. It’s a dream project for Facebook. A patent has been filed by the company that provides some interesting details about this project. Meta wants to be competitive with Samsung and Apple devices by offering innovative features.

According to The Verge, many speculated that the Meta wristwatch would have two cameras and a removable lens so you could take photos while on the move.

Facebook has filed a patent to show that they are investigating the possibility. According to the patent filed in June 2021, a detachable screen could be refashioned into a base that can be worn on the wrist. The abstract states that the removable part could be used to add a camera or screen.

While the patent shows both circular and square wristwatch designs, speculations by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman suggested that a square-shaped form could be used. Patents that are not used in actual products are filed every day. Take a look at our Apple Watch patents compilation.

These patents and previous reports show that Facebook is working on unusual wristwatch designs. However, it’s not clear if any of these concepts make it into MetaWatch version 1.

It seems that the Facebook wristwatch will include a camera. This is because the gadget doesn’t conform to Facebook’s vision of communication and social.
